Not only do we build custom homes, luxury condos, townhouses and attached single-family developments, we provide our customers the convenience of home maintenace, remodeling and home repair. We diligently work with banks to build and sell bankrupt properties, provide residential and commercial brokerage as well as offer commerical contruction capabilities. Thus the need to change our name from Jacobs Homes, Inc to The Jacobs Companies, LLC. We are expanding and evolving into a more diverse company and our name should represent this diversification. We are older and wiser now. After one of the worst real estate depressions in decades, we are still standing and still building strong.That type of credibility, respect and peace-of-mind is what buyers are seeking.A company that's been around the block, a company that has seen interest rates as high as 22%. Today, just like the day we began back in the mid 30's, we are a family owned company still owned by the original Jacobs family. As a pioneer in the homebuilding arena, we are known for our uncomparable customer service, outstanding architectural accomplishments, construction quality and botton-line value. We have built residences for generations of families over the last 7 decades, building is in our blood.It is time now to look towards the future with new opportunities, new growth and a new business model in which to do it.
We are unique
We are the oldest and most widely known builder here in the North Shore. Building more than 3000 homes, 44 communities throughout 13 Northern Suburbs speaks volumes. With this type of longevity, weathering numerous economic storms is quite impressive. The founder's son is now 86 years old and still active in the firm, and the acting president is the founder's grandson, now approaching his 50's. The fact that we are still owned by the original jacobs family is quite an accomplishment. Over the years we have set the standards by which all homebuilders are measured.

Our target audience is broad and diverse. It encompasses any individual seeking to buy or build a new home, renovate an old one, any village looking for a seasoned builder to build out open land or infill properties within their village boundaries, land brokers searching to sell property, past customers seeking an updated look on their out of date home. We can satisfy the first time home buyer, the empty nester looking to scale down or the growing family needing that larger home.
What our logo should communicate
In creating a new logo for a 75 year old real estate development company, we need to pay homage to the past 75 years as we look ahead. We are broadening our scope of business and need a new look that epitomizes this diversification.A 75 year old company still standing after one of the worst recessions in our lifetimes deserves a strong, timeless, sophisticated logo that embodies exactly what our customers need.. trust, confidence and integrity. We have created a name and quite a reputation over the last 7 decades for ourselves and need to continue that momentum, yet at the same time refresh, reposition and rename who we are so that is encapsulates everything that we do. We are no longer just a home builder. An extensive company history can be found at our website jacobshomes.net. The new branding should be easily recognizable and be able to represent who we are for the next 75 years. Our existing logo utilized a signature 'J' box ( see attached samples) along with our name. In this new economy, this new design needs to be completely different. Yet an interesting design element like the signature 'J' box that has come to represent our company would be nice to have in this new logo
First impressions on our logo should be
The logo should somehow communicate that we have been around for years. A solid company with a name to match. One where the name needs to be simply and elegantly presented. In a recent search of logos styles from both the local and national builders, we noticed that most are simply just the name in a unique font. Sometimes you will see a small design element attached. I believe there is power in a name.This logo will be used in various mediums: in signage, in direct mail, in print ads, via the internet and more. It needs to be highly legible and clearly distinguishable. Something should set us apart, a design element, but over designing is not necessary.

An interesting font that embodies a tremendous history of financially viable real estate developments and ventures over the past 75 years. A unique design element that could be quickly and easily recognized as belonging to the jacobs companies.
