When Bobbie Buckle decided to get her logo designed at Designtourney.com she was our 28th customer. Her logo brief for Elite Gaming Entertainment was simple, she wanted a logo that represented a “Classy fun filled evening.” Well how much more upscale can you get than not only building a successful casino entertainment company, but winning a qualifier to go down to Vegas and take a shot at the real deal. Bobbie won a local satellite tournament that qualified her for a free trip and buy in at the big show. The best part? Bobbie may not have won the tournament, but she did finish high enough to take home more money than the buy in. Bobbie has been one of designtourney’s biggest supporters, referring multiple clients to the site. We congratulate her on her big win and we thank her for her commitment to Hiretheworld.com and Designtourney!

A logo says a lot (if not everything) about a company. BP’s current logo of green, white and yellow portrays an environmental company. A company that’s “beyond petroleum”. Beyond this logo however, BP continues to damage the environment through their ongoing pursuit of the Canadian tar sands and deepwater drilling.
That is why Greenpeace wanted to rebrand and redesign the BP logo. Along with a tar sands campaign, Greenpeace launched a logo design contest which allowed thousands of graphic designers to recreate the BP logo that best fits the company’s current condition. According to Greenpeace, “BP’s slick green logo doesn’t suit a company that wants to invest in tar sands, the dirtiest oil there currently is”.
This only goes to show the power of the visual culture. Greenpeace demonstrates that branding not only establishes a company’s image, it can also send an activist message.

Greenpeace’s rebranding of the company.
We in Designtourney chose our own two favorites among the thousands of entries:

Crowdspring uses 99designs for SEO
You may have noticed that designtourney’s pages may be loading a little faster, keywords like crowdsourcing, logo design, and graphic design are starting to creep their way into more sections of our website and that we’ve been toying around with different wordpress blog themes and forum engines. That’s because as well as working on building one of the internet’s premier design communities we are also learning more and more about search engine optimization (seo). Learning which makes blog articles like Crowdspring’s recent ” 99 designs you can crowdsource on crowdspring ” a much more interesting read. Crowdspring has been very up front about its goals for getting logo design and website design projects started through blog traffic… and what better way to generate interest in your own site than writing a blog article using the keyword “99designs”, the name of Crowdspring’s top competitor (for now) in an interesting way on a full featured article on the site. If this information is at all useful to the crowd, spring into action and utilize it as best you can.

Dragons’ Den current logo
Hello world,
Designtourney.com has been asked to run a logo contest for the hit TV show, The Dragons’ Den. We are planning to present the top 5 designs to the dragons at a live filming on May 11th, 2010. With 2.2 million viewers this is a great opportunity to have designers present their work to a very large audience and to have it possibly catch the interest of the dragons. We will announce the winning designer and award the $500 prize shortly after the filming date.
We know our community is going to come up with some great concepts and make sure to check out their website for inspiration, http://www.cbc.ca/dragonsden/
