I have some very exciting news for you guys today. If you all remember, and follow us on twitter, we announced a few weeks back that we were working on a feature to let you import your profile from LinkedIn to HiretheWorld. Well guess what: It’s finally here!

Let’s face it we all hate seeing that profile completeness bar sitting low. We also hate having to keep updating our profiles on a million different web sites. Well, we heard you loud and clear and asked: “What is the most popular site, where you keep your profiles up to date?”. You answered: “LinkedIn”.

Sounds good, how do I get started?

With our LinkedIn Import feature, you can literally get all the way up to the 100% profile completeness mark, in less than a minute. Let’s see how it works …. * Log in * Go to your HiretheWorld profile. * Click on the big button that says “Import LinkedIn Profile”. It sits on the right hand side of your profile:

  • Allow LinkedIn and HiretheWorld to connect, when the pop up opens up.

  • Go through your profile, sort out your skills ratings, add any missing sections and You’re All Done!!

If your LinkedIn profile has Skills, we'll import them - but you'll have to rate your expertise, as LinkedIn doesn't support this feature.

This is a very good tool, to cut out the time that it takes to maintain an up to date profile on HiretheWorld. Every time you update your LinkedIn profile, you can simply go back to HiretheWorld, and update your profile with this tool.

I already have a HiretheWorld Profile. Can I still use this tool?

You absolutely can, and you most definitely should!

You see, at HiretheWorld, our focus is to make it fast, simple and effective for everyone to work and get work done. If you already have a LinkedIn account, you should certainly use this tool to sync it with your HiretheWorld profile. This gives you the ability to easily update your HiretheWorld profile, every time you update your linkedIn account.

If you already have a profile with us, there are two sections that you should look at after you’re done importing. Your Employment History, and your Education History. Why?

When we import your education and work experience form LinkedIn, we don’t remove anything from your HiretheWorld profile, so you may end up with duplicates. If that’s the case, you should just remove the first of the duplicates. Keeping the one that was imported from LinkedIn is important, because in the future, when you update those specific items on LinkedIn, you can just update them on HiretheWorld, with the import tool.

What’s next?

Well a couple of things will follow this feature. First, we are going to improve this feature, with your suggestions. So don’t forget to let us know how you use this tool and how you want to see it improved. In the pipeline we have:

  • Giving you options on what parts of your profile you would like to sync with LinkedIn
  • Getting rid of the duplicate content problem we talked about above
  • Giving you the option of automatically keeping your profile up-to-date with your LinkedIn profile, without you having to explicitly re-import it

Well that’s it. Let us know what you think.

Cheers!
